How To Adjust And Use A Rotary Tiller? The Senior Engineer Suggested This

1、 Selection and configuration of rotary tillers

1. Dimensions of rotary tiller:

Tractors with different horsepower need to be equipped with rotary tillers of corresponding width. If the supporting rotary tiller is too large, it will not be able to move, while if the supporting rotary tiller is too small, it will waste fuel consumption and cause compaction of tractor tires.

A typical 50 horsepower tractor, paired with a 1.8-meter rotary tiller, a 90 horsepower tractor, can be paired with a 2.3-meter rotary tiller.

2. Speed ratio of rotary tiller:

The power output speed of the tractor and the blade shaft speed of the rotary tiller need to be proportional. Generally, the blade shaft speed of the rotary tiller is 220-280 revolutions per minute. Both too high and too low can affect the cultivation quality of the rotary tiller;

When purchasing tractors and rotary tillers, it is important to pay attention to the speed ratio of the rotary tiller.

3. Precautions for matching rotary tillers and tractors

(1) The power consumption of the matching tractor should be greater than that of the rotary tiller.

(2) When attaching a rotary tiller, the transmission shaft should be in the same straight line as the tractor's power output shaft.

(3) To improve the passing performance of the tractor unit, the central pull rod of the suspension device should be hung as high as possible, and the height of the left and right lifting rods should also be consistent to ensure that the left and right plowing depths are consistent.

(4) When installing the transmission shaft assembly, the opening direction of the two forks of the middle transmission shaft should be on the same plane. If the opening direction is offset by 90 °, it is easy to cause damage to the cross joint of the transmission shaft.

(5) When turning on the ground, the power output shaft should be separated and then engaged after turning, otherwise it will cause power loss or collision between the transmission shaft and the limit chain.

(6) Drivers should pay attention to the correct use of the three working positions of the distributor: lifting, neutral, and pressure drop, otherwise it is easy to cause damage to components such as the gear pump and high-pressure oil pipe in the hydraulic system.

(7) Reasonably select the forward speed of the tractor based on the actual soil conditions, maximize the effective power of the tractor, and ensure the working efficiency of the rotary tiller.

(8) Due to the high working resistance of the rotary tiller, it is necessary to regularly add gear oil to the middle gearbox of the rotary tiller and lubricating grease at each oil nozzle during use. Carefully check the tightening condition of each union joint bolt.

2、 Precautions for using rotary tillers

1. Lifting height of rotary tiller:

The angle between the power input shaft, universal joint, and the power output shaft of the rotary tiller should be controlled within 15 degrees. During the rotation of the rotary tiller, it should not be raised too high. Otherwise, it will cause the power output shaft of the tractor to break;

2. Turning:

When a rotary tiller turns in farmland, it is necessary to first cut off the power output shaft of the rotary tiller, and then lift the rotary tiller for turning. Do not directly turn the rotary tiller, otherwise it will cause the power output shaft to break and the suspension mechanism to be damaged.

3. Installation of blade teeth for rotary tillers. The rotary tiller has a relatively large number of blade teeth, and the front section of the blade teeth also presents a certain degree of curvature to facilitate soil crushing. However, the installation of the blade teeth must be correct, otherwise there may be grooves or protrusions in the cultivated land after rotary tillage operations. Generally speaking, the blade teeth of a rotary tiller are installed in a mixed manner according to the diagram below.

4. Inspection of blade teeth. The main operating part of a rotary tiller is the blade teeth that come into direct contact with the soil. Due to the high speed, strong force, and harsh working environment, the cutting teeth often deform, break, and entangle with grass, which affects the effectiveness of the operation. So, it is necessary to observe the quality of the homework from time to time during homework. If the quality deteriorates, it is necessary to check whether it is caused by factors such as deformation, breakage, or entanglement of the cutting teeth. Therefore, it is recommended to carry a few blade teeth and tools with you for timely replacement.

5. Maintenance of rotary tillers. The upper and side of the rotary tiller will have holes for adding lubricating grease. I personally recommend adding lubricating grease once a day before operation to meet the lubrication needs of high-speed rotation. At the same time, it is also to clean the impurities inside and reduce internal wear through the newly added lubricating grease; Moreover, there will be a transmission box in the middle of the rotary tiller, which requires gear oil lubrication due to its high load. Generally speaking, the amount of gear oil in the transmission box of newly purchased rotary tillers is insufficient, and you need to replenish it yourself. To avoid excessive wear on the transmission box due to lubrication, which may affect its service life.

6. Work environment. The main function of a rotary tiller is to crush soil, but it is not recommended to use the rotary tiller directly for soil with harder texture and more sand and gravel. On the one hand, the homework results are not good, requiring multiple assignments to achieve the expected results; On the one hand, it is easy to cause damage to the blade teeth of rotary tillers. For the hard farmland, it is recommended to plow progressiveness, and then use the rotary tiller for land preparation; For farmland with high sand and gravel content, you need to find a way to handle it yourself. Otherwise, the breakage of the blade teeth of the rotary tiller will definitely be very frequent. At the same time, it should also be noted that during the operation of the rotary tiller, it is prohibited to stand close to the rear and side of the rotary tiller to avoid safety accidents.

3、 Adjustment of rotary tiller

1. Rotary tiller insertion angle:

By changing the angle at which the rotary tiller enters the soil, it can plow deeper. The method is to shorten the top pull rod of the rotary tiller, so that the angle of entry of the rotary tiller is changed.

Try adjusting the length of the pull rod to help with the cultivation of the rotary tiller.

2. Adjustment of left and right unevenness of rotary tiller:

The main problem with uneven cultivation of rotary tillers is the inconsistent adjustment length of the left and right pull rods of the tractor. The length and length of the suspension rod cause the rotary tiller to tilt left and right, resulting in uneven soil for rotary tillage operations.

The handling method is relatively simple, adjust the length of the pull rod to be consistent. It can be adjusted on flat ground. After adjusting the length of the pull rod to be consistent, tighten the pull rod nut in a timely manner.
