Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released data on the production of large, medium, and small tractors by wheeled tractor manufacturers above designated size in April 2023.
Note: According to the standards of the National Bureau of Statistics, large tractors: greater than 100 horsepower; Medium tractor: 25-100 horsepower; Small tractor: less than 25 horsepower.
1、 Tractor production data for April
The total output of tractors in April 2023 was 58385 units, an increase of 12.63% compared to the output of 51836 units in April 2022, indicating a significant increase.
In April, the production of large tractors was 11539 units, medium tractors 30846 units, and small tractors 16000 units.
In April, the cumulative production of tractors was 42113 large tractors, 122722 medium-sized tractors, and 61000 small tractors.
1. Large tractor production
According to statistical data, the cumulative production of large tractors in April 2023 was 11539 units, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period last year. The year-on-year increase is significant.
The cumulative production of large tractors from January to April was 42113 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%. Given the significant increase in production from January to March, the cumulative increase in production from January to April remained basically unchanged.
2. Medium tractor production
According to statistical data, the production of medium-sized tractors in April 2023 was 30846 units, an increase of 11.4% compared to the same period last year, and a decrease in year-on-year growth.
The cumulative production from January to April was 122722 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%. Due to the small increase in production from January to March, although the increase in production was significant in March, the cumulative increase in production from January to April was relatively small.
3. Output of small tractors
According to statistical data, the production of small tractors in April 2023 was 16000 units, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period last year. Starting from this year, small tractors have changed their downward trend over the past few years and started to show growth month by month.
The cumulative production of small tractors from January to April was 61000 units, a year-on-year increase of 27.1%. On the basis of the relatively large increase in January to February, it continued to grow significantly.
2、 Forecast of Tractor Production in 2023
The year 2022 is mainly affected by the emission upgrade of the fourth country, and the tractor market has a relatively large amount of early consumption. Although the tractor production did not decrease but increased from January to April 2023, as sales in various regions did not show significant improvement, it will gradually be transmitted to production enterprises. The increase in tractor production in the first half of the year may not continue.
Due to the fact that tractors in our country are still in the development stage and far from reaching saturation, there is a relatively large demand gap, especially in some provinces and regions, such as those with more hilly and mountainous areas and southern paddy fields. The tractor market has not yet fully started. With the launch of these markets and the country's emphasis on the development of agricultural mechanization in hilly and mountainous areas, the tractor market, especially small and medium-sized tractors, will gradually become prosperous.
Taking into account the above factors, the old farmer continues his previous prediction that China's tractor production may reach over 600000 units by 2023, an increase of about 5% compared to 2022. Among them, the production of large tractors is over 100000 units, medium-sized tractors are 320000 units, and small tractors are over 180000 units.
